During group meetings and workshops, group members listen to and discuss selected poetry, prose, or stories, learn poetic forms and writing techniques, and write from intriguing prompts. More discussion follows when group members volunteer to share their written responses. Because we do not critique, an atmosphere of support and acceptance prevails.
What group members say about the process:
"It has opened my eyes, my heart, and my soul to reveal a me I did not know existed. Writing has delighted me, caused me to look at life differently, and healed some hurts I did not think could heal."—G.H., Franklin
"Ellen has an uncanny ability to anticipate and provide just the right poem or prompt to help me shape my words. Sometimes I gain a deeper insight into myself, sometimes laughter and humor bubble up and delight me. I may come to group tired after a long day's work, but I leave invigorated by hope, and the joy that sharing it with others brings."—K.M., Nashville
"Ellen has a keen insight into human nature. I find the material she provides to be thought-provoking, and the nurturing environment of our group an ideal place to explore our inner selves through reading and writing."—L.D., Franklin
